AUSTRALIAN MIXTAPE

It’s so easy to offend weiners on the internet. I could talk about Frankly Festival and point out the fact that most Brisbane gig goers are as clicky as fuck and cliched cunts – but I feel that controversy has been well represented throughout music blogs as of late. So this is my virtual mix tape.

I am part of a large majority of people who relish in listening to Australian music, not ya atypical AC/DC or Powderfinger but I guess what you could call more obscure Australian music.

I have this vivid memory of going to my second or third house show in Brisbane and seeing Kitchen’s Floor play (back when they were an acoustic two piece). I was young and naive, only 17-years-old and had only just graduated high school. I didn’t really quite understand the melancholy sound of Kitchen’s Floor. Now, currently I feel that have a better understanding of Australian music – I am not sure whether it’s from being that little bit older or being able to experience listening to a diverse bunch of Australian bands. I hope this mix tape showcases how fucking awesome Australian bands have been over the last 30 something years.
