Is there really such a thing as selling out?
You might know on some level that songs like this
were churned out by contracted songwriters knocking out tunes on a 9-5 basis, factory-style, but it just doesn’t feel like that deep down. Those songs are too important. They mean too much.
Selling out is when, in the pursuit of revenue, you lose the love and passion and commitment that made you want to achieve your dream in the first place.
Making records is a commercial venture, but if you’re not making something magical, you’re better off working for a bank.
