Absolutely no feedback whatsoever from the last crop of four. Undaunted, the bloodied and ignored critic battles on…

Loene Carmen – It Walks Like Love
Tread carefully. Every pace might be your last. Sing slowly. Life is too serene. Smoke, drink, fuck. Psychocandy ruined music for a generation, you know.

The Millipedes – Shake Your Bones
School project: make a band that snaps, crackles and pops like ace late 70s retro rockers Rezillos or Bis (not quite as chirpy). Make it with paper and paste and yr dad’s handed-down copy of the Link Wray and Cramps songbooks. Full marks!

Los Campesinos! – We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed
School project (advanced): make a band that sounds state-of-the-chart 2006 while referencing every Top Friend on the Twee As Fuck MySpace page. Make sure the pace is relentless, and the mood interminably UP UP UP! Bounce, but only when folk watch. Make the song-titles long, a nod to Manic Street Preachers. Full marks!

Puerto Muerto – Drumming For Pistols
Music for Tom Waits and Gallon Drunk fans to get drunk to. Um, assuming they don’t prefer to listen to Tom Waits and Gallon Drunk…
