…today, I found this. Bikini Kill archive. Maybe Kathleen’s making a documentary – which would be awesome. Riot Grrrl has been so important to me, but I never saw Bikini Kill live or even owned a fanzine. Why does it mean so much to me? I was thinking about it the other day in the bath… it’s the constancy of those women. They stand for something and they won’t budge. Ever. Not when they were 16 and not now they’re 40 – the ideas remain clear and sincere. And that gives me real support, when I make music and I doubt myself and feel alone (Belfast is a difficult place for girls like me even today), I know that you, Tobi, Kathleen, Slim Moon, Calvin are all out there somewhere, believing what you’ve always believed and just doing doing doing it yourself EVERY DAY… and that gives me such comfort and hope to go on.

The community has always been decentralized and that’s why we need letter writing and why we love blogs.

I watched this really funny film called Itty Bitty Titty Committee last night – it’s inspired by Riot Grrrl and Queercore – have you seen it? It’s like a teen movie crossed with Fight Club but everyone’s a lesbian Riot Grrrl.
