Song of the Day 788: Lambrini Girls

- Somehow it’s suddenly February. Is to too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year? Good luck everyone, I think we’re gonna need it.
- Over here at Collapse Board Towers, there’s been some big changes with the arrival of twins in early December so we’re not sure how CB 2025 is going to look. Probably (even more) sporadic, with less gigs and less photos, at least in the first half of the year, and whatever can be fit around very limited free time (feel free to offer to contribute!)
- If I’d got my act together, Lambrini Girls should have been a Song Of The Day somewhere in the middle of last year but instead have joined the multitude of open tabs for prospective SotDs that keep open in the expectation/anticipation that I will find the time to write/post them.
- Does Brighton get the rightful kudos for its music scene that it would get if it was a more provincial UK city? Does London-by-the-Sea unfairly just get absorbed into London-proper due to its proximity?
- Lambrini Girls is a great band name.
- ‘Cuntology 101’ is a fantastic title for a song.
- Use of the word ‘Cunty’ throughout is A+++++.
- Lambrini Girls supported Amyl and the Sniffers on their UK tour last year, a perfect pairing and a shame they didn’t bring them over for their current Australian tour (although having said that, in all the recent busyness, the current Amyl and the Sniffers tour has completely passed me by and it was only seeing social media posts and photos from their Brisbane show at the Tivoli over the weekend that made me realise that it was happening.
- Hopefully someone like Good Things can get them out to Australia for this year’s festival.
Lambrini Girls’ debut album, Who Let the Dogs Out is out now on City Slang Records. https://lambrinigirlsband.bandcamp.com/
