Gang Gang Dance – Eye Contact (4AD)

Those obliterating rhythms smash their way into your skull and pummel your brain until you have no choice but to comply: you will love this album.

Music: reviewed in cats

I will now re-review some of my favourite recordings through the medium of cats.

A Love Letter to Tearist

At your most natural, you present us with something very different and quite unnatural in terms of how we view modern music.

Tearist – Living: 2009-Present (Thin Wrist)

The recordings here are fidgety and grainy, soaked in synths and effects. And it sounds as if many of these tracks were bashed out in a garage – all craggy, concrete walls and exposed brick that’s rough to the touch.

Thao & Mirah – Thao & Mirah (kill rock stars)

The vast range of styles that pop up on this album only serves to cement the idea that Thao & Mirah are less timid than their folkie peers.

TRUE STORY! 22th February 2011 (translated from the Italian)

“DO YOU REMEMBER THAT BAND THAT MADE YOU DREAM ALL SUMMER LONG, THE BAND WHOSE SONGS YOU KNOW BY HEART ALL THE LYRICS? WELL, IT’S CRAP! AND SO ARE YOU!”

Song of the day – 350: I, Ludicrous (reprise)

A couple of drunks near the back get up and mock-slow dance to your impassioned song of unrequited love. They give up after the third instrumental break.

Barbara Panther – Barbara Panther (City Slang)

The highlights buzz and throb with an uncontainable enthusiasm that merges perfectly with the pulsating music. Her talent and personality, coupled with her media-friendly childhood, seem perfectly designed for stardom.
